Eastin Hotel Penang hosted about 135 senior citizens during a Mid-Autumn Festival Corporate Social Responsibility Dinner recently. Among the retirement homes that were present included Rumah Charis Relau, Little Sisters Of The Poor, Rumah Orang Tua Uzur Pulau Pinang, Silver Jubilee Home For The Aged and Ocean Retirement Home.
This was the inaugural Mid-Autumn Festival initiated by Eastin Hotel Penang in order to bring back the nostalgia of yesteryears for the inhabitants of various retirement homes within Penang island.
YB Phee Boon Poh, Penang State Exco for Welfare, Caring Society and the Environment was present to give a speech. YB Phee reminded everyone to continue to care for each other as a caring community and encouraged the senior citizens to participate in the singing and dancing and to enjoy themselves that evening. A speech was also presented by the hotel’s General Manager, Dianne Tye. In her speech, she mentioned that “”in this modern digital age, it was important to remember the past and get away from our mobile devices just for a few hours to celebrate face-to-face and side-by-side.”” She also thanked the co-sponsors – Rainbow Enrichment Centre, D’Generals Band, Metro Travels and Tours Service and Lim Photo.
Among the highlights of the evening were songs and dances from the talented children of Rainbow Enrichment Centre, a karaoke session, group photos plus red packet and goodie bag distributions by the hotel management.
